When we learned about the recent capture of a wolfdog at a Southern California Humane Society facility, Wild for Life Foundation (WFLF)immediately got involved. A young female mid content wolfdog had been darted by animal control officers for easy capture and placed in isolation at a local facility. Wolf Rescue Resources (WRR) was later notified after the animal's health continued to deteriorate as she struggled to recover from the incident. Mike from WRR put word out to the animal activist community and through multiple phone calls, emails and networking a qualified special needs animal technician was located through Wolf Mountain Sanctuary and arrangements have since been secured for a rescue.

Working together with the local animal control officials, Katia Louise from WFLF visited the sweet young wolfdog at her kennel and sat with her couple hours to make sure she knew that she had not been forgotten.

"I was out at the humane society today and spent a few hours with Pomona girl. She is in fact a very sweet and loving girl. In my opinion, completely misunderstood by the decision makers at the facility who claim that she's "aggressive" but the pictures prove the opposite. She was extemely calm and gentile, however she was obviously suffering from a chemical reaction from being darted, followed by the isolation treatment at their facility. She responded well to my attention.

Although I was not allowed to enter her kennel I got right next to her, only separated by the chain link fence and I sat on the ground beside her for about an hour. When I arrived she was just as described; sprawled out on the ground and barley lifting her head. Before too long she moved over toward me and got as close as she could through the fence. When I got up to leave she stood and followed along as far as she could go. I visited with her a little bit longer before I left and she was sitting upright for most of that time.

Arrangements are now complete; she has been picked up and transported. Before the end of the week she will be with her new adoptive owner, an animal rescuer for those with special needs."

North Shore Animal League America Seeks Adopters for Homeless Animals Rescued from Hurricane Gustav
Live in the Tri-State Area? A Note to Local Adopters: Seventy-nine homeless animals evacuated from high-risk Gulf States shelters in the path of Hurricane Gustav are now safe at North Shore Animal League America, and several of the animals are ready for adoption.
The rescued animals include 51 dogs, 14 puppies and 14 felines. The majority was originally evacuated from hurricane-ravaged areas in Louisiana and was subsequently transported to Alabama's Greater Birmingham Humane Society, who partnered with North Shore Animal League America in this rescue initiative. Those pets, along with some from GBHS, were transported to the Animal League in two of its Mobile Rescue Units, accompanied by five members of the Emergency Response Team.
Since their arrival, the animals have been undergoing medical and behavioral evaluations, vaccinations and, where necessary, spaying and neutering in preparation for their adoptions in loving homes. The animals range in age from 8 weeks to about 4 years with the dogs being mixed-breeds. The 14 felines are all under 8 months. See below for photos of some of the pets.

SE Oklahoma Shelter wolfdogs living on borrowed time!
These two SE Oklahoma wolfdog beauties have been in the shelter since July 25th, and are now living on borrowed time. They should have been put down on 8/15. It is urgent that we find a place for them asap. We need foster or home ASAP!! **PLEASE REPOST THIS TO SAVE A LIFE!!

It is **URGENT** that we find a safe place for them ASAP!!!! Their owner use to keep them on chains tied to a tree..poor things…. They got loose and picked up by animal control. The owner says he doesn't have the money to pay the fines to get them out...PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP THEM!
